I have to send a voice recording of myself via email (in .wav format) to someone. Anyone know of a good quality one to download, so I'm not using my actual audio recorder & having to transfer it to my computer & attach it in an email? TIA.

Audacity is pretty well regarded, pretty powerful, and free.

Yep, downloaded & used it last night, thanks again. I discovered I had to diminish the size of the .wav file by finding another program to download, but I guess I figured it out & did it correctly! I'm proud of myself because I'm not a techy person!

If you have a microphone, you could also use Windows' built-in Sound Recorder (Start > Run > soundrecorder > OK) to do the same thing.

I am guessing Windows 10 would have this utility included as well. When you are saving it, it defaults to .wma but, if needed, you could literally change the extension from .wma to .wav by manually typing it and it still works (after WMP giving you a prompt before playing the file).

You're suggesting they just change the extension? I'm not sure what that is supposed to accomplish other than playback software possibly rejecting it because the extension does not match the header. You're not changing the content of the file by changing the extension.

An .exe is no safer than installer.
