For example, when I type in "John Smith" on Facebook, only like 7 names/people come back. Then it says "end of results" when you scroll down.

Why is that? We all know that there are more than like 10 John Smith's in America; how do you expand the search to see ALL "John Smith's"?

I just tried it using your John Smith and the same thing happened.
Never had that happen before. With FB and it's oddities and changes, I'd suggest waiting for a day or so and trying it again.

I am trying to get past this issue to find someone who has a fairly common name. Glad you see what I talking about at least.

Still the same deal. What's going on? I'm trying to find someone with a name that probably a thousand other people in the country share but my search is limited as outlined above.

Anyone?

Feel your frustration. Same for me. A search using a person's name is basically useless. So much for using Facebook to find long lost friends and relatives.

The short list of hits I get when searching for John Smith make zero logical sense. They are not keyed to my location nor my interests nor anything I can find that the handful of John Smiths and I have in common. Very random.
