Advertisements

There has to be some upgrades in the works for the Internet. In some cases it is a disaster. Yahoo, has a big problem with pages that 'jump", links that open things one has not clicked on, and the giant advertising banner at the top is very irritating.
Today, the browsers have been chaotic, I finally used Opera, Google Chrome is far less efficient that it use to be and Firefox has become almost worst than Internet Explorer.
There has to be some better works for accessing the Internet, as well as there has to come some means to develop a system that does not rely on the paid service providers. Internet access SHOULD BE FREE, They make enough on Advertisements to not be subject to the madness.

Comcast just sent out a message limiting usage to 300GB. I don't use that much, but still what is the point other than profit gouging.

We need to recall the time when Paid TV was commercial free- WE ALLOW THE POLITICIANS TO ALLOW THESE PROVIDERS TO BOMBARD US WITH ADVERTISEMENTS AND THEN MAKE US PAY TO WATCH IT, BY DISBANDING THE ANALOG SYSTEM, WHICH COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN UPGRADED TO DIGITAL AND REMAINED FREE ACCESS.

The current day crop of executives from privileged background who never had to pay for anything, only know to gouge and raise cost, because they have no understanding of what it cost working people to access something which should be free for all. Every Content Provider makes a massive volume of money from Advertising, why do they need to bleed us dry and collude the system where most of the site perform poorly.

We the people, seem to not understand and some simply don't care, that we are paying for something which should not have a cost to the user. It has become nothing more than an advertising platform.
The so called Journalist put up very poorly written articles, that never have enough content to tell the story.
Then there are the pages that give you partial info, so you have to click and go to another page full of advertisements.

If you look in the bottom right when pages are loading, it goes through a multitude of scripts before it can load a page. This is the drawback of the container designed pages, it has made the Internet a time waster to access information.

Greed is destroying something which should never have gone this route, but all companies follow the same script, to make us think this is how it has to be.

It's evident that the system is due for a massive change. We just as well have a government managed access system, because they have access to everything anyway. Why are we paying providers for the pretense of privacy, when privacy in the internet does not exist in terms of what is truly privacy.

We fall for anything and everything these degree riding goons come up with and the more they come up the worst things perform the the poorer the quality of service for what ever they put their hands on. they have destroyed the concept of quality service, and everything to them is just another 'gimmick" to get a bonus.

Our Universities have taught greed above and beyond good quality service and products, they have taught build in obsolescence for the quick resales of another version of a system or program that has locked out the functions it originally has capability to provide. All so they can sell the next version. Apple has become a master at this art of constructive rip off.

We had better re-think what is the Internet and then think of what its real intended purpose is, because it has become nothing more than a multi trillion dollar advertising platform. Companies selling and buy each other for billions, only to get potential advertising access to the user base. then they bombard you with advertising. Email is so filled with junk mail. One may need to set up their own server account to void it out. Greed violates and destructs anything which is citizen and user oriented.

Why does Japan and S. Korea have an internet that is decades ahead of ours in actual performance and points of free accessibility?

I guess we can sit and wait, and watch other nations in the Nordic Region, and Asian Pacific continue to demonstrate how it should actually work for the citizen populations.

Haha your rant is laughably full of misinformation and wrong conclusions.

The Internet is the open and transit is free - if you go to web sites with advertising that is your choice - don't go there - if you get in your car and drive to the mall or McDonald's instead of the park or gym then again that is totally your call. The Highway you drive on is not to blame for your destination.

Oh and a couple of other things:

The Internet was never Analog. Perhaps you dialed over a phone line to get to it - I suppose you think those days were better.

Nordic regions have good internet access but many Asian Countries filter and monitor their internet (and yes it costs more there than here).

Other than that I agree with your message Greed not equal good but hey that is capitalism.

A laughably naïve rant. It's clear the OP has no idea how the Internet works, or how much of anything works.

Ted Stevens? Is that you?

And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material."

It's ok that many will interpet the post in many ways, one of the trips that triggered the post, was the problems with the browers, some pages in the middle of reading an article has a pop up advertisement, with the 'close" buttom as hidden as possible. The big banner on Yahoo, which has a close on the top right, if you go to it, it will change and the ad opens in a new brower. "just irritating things".
I don't know if some have searched for particular things, only to go to a site which claims to be about the subject, but has nothing but links leading to a multitude of advetisers. One of the point of the posting, is an avenue to talk about what one likes and dislikes about the internet.

Things will change - I just hope GREED does not continue to make it colluded with time wasting things. But, one thing we have to remember is, in a system where Greed Rules, 'NOTHING IS FREE".

if anyone likes advertisements, then enjoy them... I happen not to like them dominating webpages.
