my email account. Just started happening-- about 3 in the last week. They say the attempts all come from 3rd world counties--Mexico, Bangladesh and the PI. Why is this happening now and why would someone want to use my email? Yahoo says change mt password but why would that matter unless they did mange to hack in?

They steal or attempt to steal these accounts to send out spam to your contacts or perhaps even emails from you requesting money. They recommend changing your password as a generic "hey if your pw is weak you might want to think about changing it". It's happening now because your email address probably got sold to someone when you recently used it somewhere or they are trying all sorts of emails in succession re bob@yahoo bob1@yahoo and so on.

I get these from time to time too.

My Yahoo account was apparently hacked not too long ago, as some of my friends got emails that were supposedly from me, but weren't. So I changed my password. This time I used one of the Apple suggested passwords.

One of my email account has 3rd party apps associated with it. The link to remove them won't word and I emailed yahoo as to how to get rid of them. Do those apps do anything if they can't hack my password anyway?
