Firefox is a good browser that has a built-in pop up blocker.

Personally, I'm fond of: Slim Browser - Tabbed web browser with popup killer
Also, download, install and run:
Ad-Aware 2007 Free - Lavasoft

Thats for Slimbrowser (an IE based, but better than even Firefox browser)
and Ad-aware, which should remove all existing spyware/pop ups from your system.

I use Firefox AND I set the privacy setting on IE to maximum which allows everything else to function. I get no pop ups.

I use Firefox, which has good pop-up blocker. I also use the Adblock Plus plugin, which blocks most advertisements on websites. When used with Adblock Filterset.G Updater (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1136 - broken link), which loads advertisement filters that are updated weekly into Adblock Plus, I seldom see online adds or popups.
