I have been living with my brother for a few years. Finally I got my own place. Today I called Time Warners and asked about their promotional rates. The lady told me $55/month for 50 Mpbs. I asked her "what is the one-year promotional rate?" She said that IS the promotional rate. The regular rate is $70/month. I remember paying the promotional rate of $29.99 a month 3 years ago albeit for something a little slower but back then that was considered fast. What other options do I have?

Check your area for SONIC coverage: https://www.sonic.com. I've had them for most of the last 20 years, and it's a great company. Check 'em out! And no, I'm not an employee, just a very satisfied customer.

Easy - in the US it's all about greed, consolidation and monopolies. Broadband in the US is slower and costs far more than elsewhere. At high speeds, it costs nearly three times as much as in the UK and France, and more than five times as much as in South Korea.
Most of America's telecommunications infrastructure relies on outdated technology, and it runs over the same copper cables invented by Alexander Graham Bell over 100 years ago. We are so behind other countries, it's pathetic.

I'm paying $60/month for 25mbps download, so $70/month for twice as much speed sounds great to me!

How about 110 dollars per month plus B.S. fees for 10mbps and a 30gb data cap like I'm about to sign up for? All I can get where I'm at is either satilite or Sprint 4G data.
