I don't like it very much. The old green design was much better. Also, there are a lot of times when "they" delete your questions for no reason at all (it's just because that website doesn't have any moderators and some people flagged your question). There are a lot of stupid questions that don't even make sense, and sometimes people reply with "I don't know the answer, but I'll give you a star" or worse just "+2". A lot of users make double accounts just do thumb you down even more and to thumb them up (even though now you can do it with your own account). The "best question" system is flawed: I mean, one can make a question, reply the question with another user and give himself the best question, to give himself "10 points" (which are quite useless). Also, now you can't make a new account anymore without your mobile phone number, which makes signing up even harder.
I don't go to Yahoo Answers any more. I used to look at the Society & Culture topics and I couldn't believe the amount of ignorance and racism I used to read.
I remember the good old days when I could use Google search and actually find what is was I was looking for instead of having the first few results being Yahoo Answers.
I have never asked one on there myself because I have always been able to find an answer just by doing a search on one of the search engines. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to find out what you are looking for but usually I can find out enough to get the info I need. I have seen a few answers on there that were good. Not one I asked but someone else did and by a miracle there was a reply with the info I needed. Usually most of the replies are either junk or people repeating what another poster said before their reply. Seems like some people just use it to put their 2 cents in when it isn't needed.
I've tried giving it a shot in the past.
The amount of stupid that's on their boards makes me snap into mean and snarky answer mode very quickly.. so I stopped going there.
The breakdown of answers on Yahoo! Answers, as I see it, is as follows:
90% terrible answers
10% valuable information
100% of it is wrapped up in grammar bad enough to make Baby Jesus cry.
All those percentages are probably right on the money. LOL
