What draws spammers to specifically want to advertise on these types of sites out of all the other sites out there?

Advertising on a website isn't spam. Spam is defined as;

1. irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the Internet to a large number of recipients.
2. trademark, a canned meat product made mainly from ham.

On a side note: most porn sites are considered "shady" as is most spam. Spam is not your biggest problem with these sites, it is malware. You can actually pick up some pretty malicious stuff from these sites.

As you can from almost ANY website when the advertising network it uses gets compromised, as happened just this past Sunday on many popular websites, MSN, BBC, AOL, Xfinity, NYtimes, and many more.
