I use the TWC-provided modem/router combo, and have been plagued with WiFI disconnects for the longest time. I'm at the point where I have nothing left to try, except buy a dedicated router.
Can anyone recommend a router that's been proven to have solid, stable performance? I work from home, so the wireless disconnects are a big issue. If these issues are just par for the course for residential wifi, then I'll look into running cat6 from the modem to my office, but I'm hoping to avoid that if possible.
Check the wifi channel you're using - maybe the channel you're on is "crowded"?
If a lot of people in your neighborhood have similar equipment from the provider, most might be using the default channels.
A useful and free tool would be wifi analyzer app, which you can download to your smart phone or tablet.
It might be good to read about other features of the wifi router like QoS and even set up the "guest" wifi, if you haven't done so yet.
Having said that, I've had very good luck with DLink wifi routers. Enough so that we don't use our cat-6 cables anymore when working from home. Even when simultaneously working from home, gaming and streaming movies, our home wifi does not slow down noticeably. The wifi range has is excellent too, pretty much blankets our house and all the way out to our driveway.

I've been through channel changing, with no luck. Also I should have mentioned I'm using the 5g band (which is supposed to help with issues like this), and there's no other 5g routers in the neighborhood, so I'm the only person on the channel.
For a while I thought it was our baby monitor, but that runs on 2.4ghz so there goes that theory. I also still have issues when it's turned off.
I'm embarrassed to say I work in IT, and I haven't been able to resolve this. I'm grasping for straws at this point, which is why I'm willing to try a new router.
Took the advice here and got the AC1750 (thanks price match) - will report back with results, but so far so good.
