Rant warning: Unsubscribing from emails (gmail, how to, work, click)

A certain company has obtained my email address and I get daily emails with "deals". I hit unsubscribe and it said it may take two weeks but alas, 2 weeks later I'm still getting them.
So I looked closer at the emails I receive and I found their annoying trick. Two weeks ago I unsubscribed from "Daily Deals", yesterday I unsubscribed from "Daily Best Deals" and I've also unsubscribed from "Best Daily Deals" and "Today's best daily deals".
Some sites have a "remove me from all button" but I'm finding most make you remove yourself one by one. Who knows how many variations they have.
Yes, I can mark it as spam and ignore it but I'm a bit weird about my email and like to keep it clean and uncluttered.
Anyone else annoyed by this?
Now to try and find out how they got my info in the first place since I've never shopped there.
Many spammers will include unsubscribe links but those links just confirm the account. If I didn't actually subscribe (accidentally or intentionally), I don't unsubscribe.

It's legit. I checked the url before clicking anything. The emails are slowing down but it's a fight that is ongoing.
Maybe you need a better email provider? Gmail can be trained to trash messages that come from the same sender, so that the user never sees them.
You can also report the senders that won't let you unsubscribe as spammers. Enough of those reports and Google will start routing their messages to the Spam folder in ALL Gmail users accounts. You'd better believe they don't want that to happen, since it would dramatically reduce their response rates!

Yeah, it's gmail and I'm messing around with settings to try and help fix this.
Mark each as spam when they come in, problem will soon be solved. Anything that hits my inbox that I didn't ask for gets marked as spam, I don't bother with the unsubscribe links for the reason skunk stated. I have a very clean inbox.
those unsubscribe links are usually there to confirm to the spammer that the email account is being read by a human and will result in more spam (much like answering a call from an unknown number -- saying please stop calling will only result in more calls).
in gmail you can put as many periods (.) in your name and they will get to your mailbox. so when i sign-up for stuff i usually put a variation of s.t.a...nley-8.8.8.8.8888@gmail.com and set up a rule to auto route it to my spam folder.

This is true in about 4% of cases. Seriously. If you get blatant spam about buying Cialis or Viagra, yea... you probably don't want to click ANY link in the email. Common sense people. But most UNSUBSCRIBE me emails from legit places are truly that...unsubscribe links. Let's not make everyone paranoid to ever click UNSUBSCRIBE.
