I would suspect a great deal of people use Yahoo Email as their throw away, SPAM account anyway. Sure, you have a sector of the population that use it as their main account, but I suspect there are a lot more users of GMAIL, and a lot of users that use GMAIL as their main email account. Which is probably just as bad, or worse, as Yahoo.

We'll probably see before too long, Wikileaks claims to be sitting on some interesting Google data.

Who cares, I get so little dull, boring, non essential to anyone but me email. Anyone reading any of it is going to be asleep from boredom before they get 1/3 of the way through my 20 or less emails per month.
My home phone is even more boring since I get maybe 3 calls a month on it and it is generally my Brother telling me what non exciting thing he did to someone's computer that he was fixing.
Paranoia is not one of my strong points when it comes to anything really.

Supposedly some upcoming Wikileaks document dumps are going to spill some dirt on Google. I wouldn't be surprised if they're cooperating with government agencies to a much larger extent than they disclose publicly, too.

Depends on how you look at it, I don't see Google or Microsoft being breached multiple times a year.

Why would forwarding (or not) matter? One would still be using Yahoo mail, just not their interface to access it.

Am I missing something?

There is a simple answer, and that is: Don't write anything of interest in your emails. I don't, but then I'm of no interest anyway, even if some misguided fools think I am.
