I'm using a mac. It's been running for two hours. If this keeps up, I'm going to switch to FTP.

To each their own but WinSCP for me. I used to have paid version of WS FTP but started looking for free versions. The primary reason I chose WinSCP over Filezilla is because Filezilla defaults to ASCII transfer. This can be very bad thing under certain circumstances. One web application I use stores images with random string with no file extension, the files information is stored in the database and they are all served through a PHP script. This is done to prevent unauthorized download. With filezilla unless you have changed it in the option since there is no extension it will default to ASCII transfer and any of those files that are binary like images will be corrupted.

There is lot of things you can do with WinSCP if you want to use scripts. If you are connected over SSH port it has all the functionality of SSH.

Is WinSCP for Windows only? I'm using a Mac. Filezilla won't connect. I have tried everything. Unless someone has a better idea, I'm just going to start saving content and start over.

AFAIK it's windows only, I do not know what else to suggest as I do not have a Mac.

As far as filezilla not connecting Google "Filezilla <your hosts name>". You may also want to look at your hosts documentation if you haven't already done so. That can be caused by few things, the port for example may not be standard.

I went through the documentation and tried everything it said. I keep wondering if Bluehost is blocking me from trying to save my files. I never had this much trouble inn the past.

Are you certain you put the right information into Filezilla to connect?

Open File, site manager and create new.

Host is probably ftp.yourwebsite.com

Port 21

User should be your bluehost login name

Logon type do Ask For Password (your hosting account password)

It keeps coming up with "The server certificate is unknown" error

Can't you say OK and go through? I got that pop-up too when I tested it just now. (There's an "always trust certificate" checkbox too)
