Instead they keep trying to sell crap and sponsor garbage. I know and I switched away from AOL for business mail but still keep it because I'm sentimental. They really do suck though.
I’ve had AOL for email since forever. My original screen name, which I still have, was one they assigned at that time, no choice.
My main complaint right now is that something changed within the past year. I have two email accounts, one under the original screen name that gets spread far and wide and the other just for family and business correspondence. My two main email clients used to be able to easily access both accounts. Now, for some reason, both Apple email client and Thunderbird email client can only access one screen name. It’s like AOL has restricted access to one screen name at a time.
One more gripe now that I think bout it. AOL is unreliable when it comes to transmitting image files. I tried to send out a Christmas letter with several embedded pictures. I tried multiple times, different ways, and every single time, it stripped out the images. No one received my email with the images.
Hey some people are even sentimental about their spouses until inevitably they have to go through divorce. I've had my AOL since 1994 and liked its chat groups. I've only had my wife since 2011,although she is pretty chatty.
I still use AOL as well - it's been my email provider for many, many years. Most things that are spam get put in spam but my gripe about them is they constantly send you an email pushing their security service, etc. junk and when you sign in they want you to: give them a number in case you are locked out, which I did (I have 5 emails), now they are trying to insist on another email (first of all, I'm not going to get locked out, secondly, they have (or I'm sure know) the other email addresses! Pain in the .....)
It's only a pain in the ass until someone hacks your email and you can't reset your password because you were too paranoid to give them your phone number. It's even just nice so you know if someone is even just trying to hack your account. It's not an inconvenience... it's more secure.
My friend Bonnie said she'd never need to do that either. Guess what?!?!
