I am about to move to a rural area where DSL service is not available. I am cringing on the inside. I learned the internet with a T1 connection and DSL is slow to me, I can't imagine how I am going to live with dial up. That $700 satellite + $70/mo is starting to sound better to me all the time........
The fact is that many peole don't have any use for the internt at all. I have many firends who are too busy making money in their business to be bothered.

I wonder if your friends realize that they could be getting free stuff from the Internet? Check Craig’s List and you’ll see there’s a Free section- as in doesn’t cost you money. Your friends could get that free stuff and then resell it on sites like EBay to make a little extra spending cash.
In the final analysis the Internet is just a tool. Some use it to get wealthy, stay informed or to keep in touch with friends and even make new ones. Regardless, just like any other tool it’s only as good or worthwhile as the users imagination allows.
My cable isp is far from perfect,but there's no way I'd ever go back to dial-up! I finally took the plunge last year after 8 years of dial-up,and I can't believe I made it that long.
My parents finally got cable internet also. It was PAINFUL to surf the web at their house before they did.

More people then what i thought do not use the internet much & many just use it to pay bills,etc. Unfortunately when i go to the local library to use a computer the waiting list is long esp during the summer, school breaks & weekends.

Nothing like bringing back another thread thats one day shy of being 5 years old....
I can understand some not wanting to pay for broadband who have limited use for internet. I know some my self who only use it for certain things that doesn't include much really. Same as some have no use for anything but antenna TV .I can remember pretty much being that way when I was a teen.
