Just in the past day or two, I am unable to use Google, because no matter what keywords I enter, I get directed to dozens of crap sites like findstuff.com. toseeka.com, portfolio.com, findlinks.com, the list goes on and on and on. Each hit header looks like it has phrases in it that relates to my search, but when I click it, all I get is a junk portal that is useless and seemingly un-navigable.

Same junk result, whether Im using IExplorer or Firefox.

Do I have a virus that is intercepting google and redircting me, or what?

Apparently, it is a virus, and it is extremely hard to get rid of, so I guess Im stuck with it forever. AVG-free did not detect it. I'll run their scan and see if the find it.

I'm experiencing the same problems, but not sure if it's a virus or a google problem. I also have the same redirect problem whenever I do a Yahoo search. I get around the problem by doing the google or yahoo search, then going thru Internet Explorer and typing the address of the site I want to visit.

Also, if you are receiving numerous pop-ups, go to Manage Add-ons in Internet Options and "disable" all browsers that are unknown or do not have a publisher. This will stop pop-ups, but they will return to "enabled" whenever you logoff your computer.

Dorado, here is the info on the virus we have.

Oh, that nasty Google Redirecting Virus | Ask Metafilter

As near as I can tell, I got it sometime today. It also affects Google Search when I am in Firerox or IEsplore, it does no good to log out of personal Google and go in as a visitor. I had to use dogpile to search for information on the web about the virus. claring my chche had no effect.

I just discovered that I get the same crap if I use the Yahoo search engine. Are Yahoo and Google piggybacked, so you get the same results on either engine?

Instead of bombing countries that harbor terrorists, why don't we bomb countries that harbor malware?

I don't know if this would work or not .. with the fake Google or Yahoo homepage running, if you use Task Manager and click on the Applications tab, then right click on the appropriate task and choose Go To Process, does that show you any other process besides iexplore.exe?

Another thought, and again I don't know if it would help, but look at your Event Viewer and see if there's anything there that might clue you in to what's hidden in your system to make your browser redirect.

download and run Malwarebytes.org
Make sure you update it first then do a full scan, not a quick scan.

Well, without my doing anything,, it has stopped misbehaving, and my google searches seem to be back to normal. At least,. I think I did nothing. I ran both the AVG scan and the spywareterminator.com scans, and neither told me that they had detected anything, and the problem persisted. But a few days later, I'm getting normal google search results.
