That’s what BP, the British gas station giant, is hoping. The company, which has 9,000 gas stations and truck stops in the USA and Canada, this month began deploying free Wi-Fi with help from Ruckus Wireless, a leading provider of Wi-Fi gear based in Sunnyvale, Calif.
I'd thank them to stop putting those goddamn TV screens at the pumps, or at least give us the option to hit the "mute" button so we don't have to sit there and listen to their stupid ads -- or better yet, offer us a discount if we opt to listen to them.
I could see where this would work for truckers who may be in a truck stop type area for a period of time....but who would want to park at a regular gas station in their car just to use the WIFI? I'm sure they have them somewhere, but I've never seen a BP with even a 'inside sit' area.
I just wish BP had a wider presence here! Bp/Amoco Ultimate rocks.
The wi-fi thing is cool IMO.
