Thanks. I've mentioned this type of device, but never gave any details. Yours is an excellent idea.

Word will get around.

Cool. If it works they should patent that.

Speaking of real boosters, like some crap my father ordered online by Hawking Technology, its the HSB2 wifi signal booster, but we need a PCI card to connect it. Our computer has windows 7, any recommendations? Bestbuy doesn't have the one we need where we can screw the little cable into for connecting the booster to the pci card...

Silly guy Daniel, he paid too much for them napkin rings! 59 Rubles is a rip off, I only paid mine 39 Rubles when they were on sale. Also, if he had removed the yellow "OK" sticker, it would gain even more signal boost!

All kidding aside, it is a pretty slick "project" nevertheless but word gets around, IKEA might just jack the prices up for those napkin rings and place them in the electronics section!

I guess all kidding weren't aside all the way.

Poor implementation of an idea - the glass in the window is one of the worst items to get a signal thru... from the looks of the window there is no way to have the antenna on the outside - that is where all your gain will be realized My son "borrowed" internet from his neighbors for awhile and found out which antenna boosters worked and which were just a waste of time... Once the antenna is outside you get a whole new set of signals

Then by definition it wasn't a poor implementation... Since he had no choice but to work through the window he did the best possible with what he had to use.

I looked at the pics again and in the first one at the bottom left there looks to be a latch on that window... I looked to see what exterior material was on the building - looks like brick or stucco - you may be able to get better reception thru that than thru glass. If you have a stick built house with siding you will definately get better reception thru the wall compared to the glass...
I was only pointing out that wifi thru glass is NOT the best choice almost anything else will yield better results... Maybe I should have said "A better way to do this is"

Stucco can be a real pain. If it's made with "chicken wire" it will really screw with wireless. Been there tried that. I even went so far as to stick the components to windows (It was line of sight), but that wasn't reliable either. This was across about 40 feet...
