Growing numbers of American seniors are going online, chipping away at the dominance of 18- to 44-year-olds who comprise half the Web population, according to a study released Wednesday.
Since 2005, the population segment that has made the largest online gains in the United States is the 70- to 75-year-old age group, the Washington-based Pew Research Center said.
It's interesting that the younger people think the internet is their domain and we old folks are technologically clueless. They forget (or are unaware) that the pioneers of the internet, whose inventions and developments are still in use today, are all over 60.
The only reason many older people shy away from technology is because they're intimidated by younger people who don't take the time to explain. I saw this first hand when I did tech support for an ISP. My younger colleagues would be impatient with the elderly and just do whatever needed to be done. I took time to show our older customers how to do things for themselves. With few exceptions, they were quick to learn and very grateful for the instruction.

That's how I make a good portion of my income. The young bucks don't want to take the time. Impatience, ya know. I, on the other hand, enjoy teaching so I'm doing just fine.
