I would say that 70 or so is about right. I have a lot of junk email that I have "subscribed to" somewhere along the line, but I am just too dang lazy to click that "unsubscribe" link and be rid of them forever. So there they are, every time I open my email....the same 20 or so emails from the same people over and over and over. Dr. Weil - leave me alone! lol

I've used Pobox.com for about ten years and would agree that spam seems a bit reduced the last half year or two. I dumped all my spam a couple of days ago, a coupla thousand msg's, but hadn't been checking it lately. Just looked and had about a hundred twenty new messages in spam... held for review or bounced. That's for about 40 hours.

I point all my email addy's to the one pobox for filtering then pick up my mail there. Some of those addresses go back to the mid-90's.

I'd be surprised if the number of spam messages sent has actually done down; more likely it's the number received that has dropped, due to better filtering by the ISPs that prevent most messages from ever reaching a user's inbox.

A spammer can easily send hundreds of thousands of emails in seconds. If only 0.001% take the bait, he's had a very profitable day.

I get less than one spam per day at my main visi.com address, and I've had that posted for the public to see on web sites, USENET, and various other places since I started using VISI well over ten years ago.

An ISP with good spam filters is a godsend. :-)
