i think Asheville Native and egglady had the same issue as rcsteiner a few posts ago.

It's not on the Homepage, it's on the search Results.

I just think they should have let it be. it even uses slighly more cpu power (5%-7%) more then the prev. one. also it causes havock with pre-searchers and generally makes havoc. It also looks not as structured.

Yep, I didn't see it on the home page. And when I view the search results, I didn't notice, as I was looking at the results, not the side bars, menus, etc. Guess they might be more noticeable/annoying on small screens, netbooks, etc.

Now that I 'see' it, @ 1920 x 1080 looks like it might be useful. At 1024 x ??? it might be intrusive

Even at 1920 x 1200 it is annoying. I have a Firefox add on that hides it now.

Every month I change everything on my computer....other than using FF as my browser. Google used to be a constant also, but maybe I'll try something else.
