You folks may want to consider this in your trading of rare earths ...

China may be restricting exports to deal with their domestic demand, but doing a simple Google search reveals that there are hopefuls in the pipeline.

My Visit to An American Rare Earth Metals Mine | Popular Science

And one reason to NOT freak out (and pump up the value of these non-Chinese REE mines):

China Just Banned Export Of Rare Earth Metals To The US

Note the final line ... "Of course there's one reason not to freak out -- those high tech products that need rare earth metals, like iPhones, are already made in China and exported to the US. This scenario will continue."

See the last slide of this presentation to see future projects:

Key Components Of America's Military Are Now Dominated By A Chinese Monopoly

Molycorp is another company and Chevron is looking at doing partnerships with them.

So, for anyone who thinks that the world will sit idly by while China reduces exports of REEs, you're wrong. Further, highly speculative plays like these are bound to fall once the QE program winds down.

I'm not going to say you shouldn't trade in these and if you make a fortune, the more the merrier! But just be warned and know your risks in a highly mobile, dynamic world.

I still hold REE, Quest, Tasman, Medallion, Avalon, Lynas.
FWIW .. Quest is very close to an AMEX listing which should raise it's price soon.

Cheers.....

How many of you took my info to heart and bought Quest Rare Minerals @ $6.50 on April 7th ??

Closed last Thursday @ $7.68 on the US market.

An AMEX listing is Immenent and will push it much higher.

QRM.V is the Canadian symbol.

QSURD was an older USA symbol. QSURF is the current USA symbol.

This will change again as soon as it hits the US AMEX listing.

Should happen VERY SOON.......

I plan to hold for $11 to $12 then take some profits off the Top But hold my Main Core position.

I consider this a Trader at this point if your not already in at the $3.60 or so area.

Quest was terribly undervalued at $6.50 when I recently mentioned it.

I would stick with EWPMF and GSFVF or TITUF for longer term plays.

Huge upside potential in all 3 of those.

$2.60 to $2.29, since around April 10th.
I see no negative news.

Thanks.

Silverfox,
Wow! I was just looking at Quest Rare timeline. Just two yrs ago, it was around .05 cents. Did you stockpile this back then? You probably could retire by now if you had.

Short answer ... Welcome to the High Volatilty in Rare Earth Stocks.

I do not see any particular reason other than it might have gotten a little ahead of itself temporarily. I really do not follow it day to day anymore as it is a Core long term hold position and I am used to these moves.

JL,

If I told you what I paid for the first BUY you would probably not believe me.
I caught onto this stock back before Jim Dines recommended it.
I can remember approx 300,000 shares in the under .13 range.
Back then I was mainly Trading it, but I did end up later on... around June 2009 by starting to take a Large Core Position @ .27 and up. Still hold most of it today.
And Yes I have Retired some time back.
Lets just say I don't have to take ORDERS anymore ... Except from my WIFE.
