I have a few of stocks on the wish list I been watching for last 1.5 month for long term investing. I should have jumped in around Oct.4 when the DOW was low. Now the DOW is approaching 12,000 and I don't know should I buy now or just wait for another down turn. I hate to buy this low and then down again. Either way I am in it for the long term anyway.

Comments please.

Wait for the downgrade of America's bond rating around November. This crisis is far from over.

Thanks, I think I heard about another America credit rating downgrade as well.

My biggest problem is patience.

Investing in a couple stocks is very risky because you are not diversified.

Also, The problem is no one can market time successfully, and if they think they do, or know when any type of downturn is coming is lying to you.

As long as this is just some "funny money" you can afford to lose, it won't make much of a difference when you jump in...

You have as much of a chance for the market to be up more in a few months as you do for it to be down.

Thanks, but I don't mind the risk at all. I enjoy picking stocks and researching them when I have the time. I just hate to buy at this point in the middle of rally.

I just took profit on a couple of stocks today. The market has been a bit of a roller coaster recently and there is a good chance of seeing another big drop followed by a further recovery. So, I am holding the cash I generated and waiting for the next drop.

I sort of agree with you. The market is on a hugh high now. And the risk of jumping in now before the Europe Summit and USA downgrade is risky. I missed the boat, now I have to wait, stack cash.

Good question! I don't know where the market is going. I am only assuming. Which could cost me big if I am wrong.

The market is shaky right now. Good news on Europe and earnings is keeping things steady. I believe there are good companies out there on the cheap and jumping in now is not an good idea to buy when the market has increased over the past 5 days. I will wait for a drop.
