Sorry, the economy will not take off like a rocket ship no matter who wins. A president, while certainly not totally irrelevant, only has so much power. And there are massive forces at play, many world-wide in nature, which affect the American economy. Among these are the Eurozone sovereign debt crises, the years-long offshoring trend of American jobs, and the number of people with underwater mortgages in the U.S. housing market.
