As long as Americans don't want to pay more in taxes to fund their wars, their buying habits, etc., then having tax deferred retirement plans make sense.

Taxes are at their lowest point since ... well for a very long time. Force multipliers allow us to do more with the same resources and same people. And this will only continue into the future.

Technological progress will continue to revolutionize how we live our lives, to the point of allowing us to question what it means to be human.

So, taxes will likely continue to go down proportionally over time. There may be times when we have to get out the ex-lax and take the medicine that's good for us but tastes bitter, but overall, it will go down.

I don't see how having a tax deferred retirement plan is a bad thing. Please enlighten me.

Anyhow, such discussion is not germane to the OP's post. Will all political discussion about investing please take it to the politics forum?
