I guess I do not remember all of the details since at the time I had about half of my portfolio in cash. Even so the magnitude of the downturn was more than I expected and I waited until the following Summer before re-investing.

Wow. This boy is going down, huh?

The S&P 500 is sitting negative for the year right now - at 1828. That is 9% below its peak, so this is definitely a market correction.

Pretty good day in the stock market today, huh?

After the explosive rise last week, it looks like we are set to hit new record highs. Enjoy the ride indeed.

Pretty good? It was great, especially the NASDAQ. Energy stocks did well today.

However, let's see what Janet has to say tomorrow before we celebrate.

Hopefully more have learned that volatility is natural and trying to time it can be a problem. At this point quite a few retail investors probably gave up 3-8 percent in return the last few weeks plus.

Default I forecast a 'downgrade' after the elections

What I see now is staged volatility. Wait until USA entitlement reform becomes front-page news after the elections. Most people will recognize that the digital welfare had to end 1st; only then can you justify 'reforming' the rest of the populace.

Thought of the Day: Do you really think the FED/USGovt pumped up the stock market so Big Business/FIRE/learned shoeshine investors' can act like 'Unsophisticated Savers'?

If you keep kicking the can on the fallout you will be correct eventually

^^I'm just an armchair economist. IMHO, you guys' should be more concerned about the reality of the situation. Bernanke said it ends ~March 2014; you were given an extra year, enjoy it while it lasts.
