There is a "local" company to my area that has world wide implications with it's products.
In the early 2000s, when the market made a dive, that stock dropped to just over $1.
I had faith that the company would come back, and risked $5000 {absolutly every penny I could get and scrape together at the time} to buy just under 5000 shares.
It soon recovered and went up to $30, so I went UP about $150 grand in just under 7 years.
Thats the equivalent of making $21,500 a year.
I still hold that stock, and still have faith, but it is locked away for RETIREMENT.
Wow....after that I would have taken some off the table and diversified, but if you don't need that money...
I bought two bags of junk silver (pre-64 quarters) for less than $3K apiece to get me through a divorce and they just sat in the closet for years. When the Hunts created a bubble in the late seventies people were standing in line to buy silver and I knew it was time to get out. Got about $40K apiece for the bags.
