Hi, How safe is stock accounts owned by a national bank? Someone has got into a friend of mines stock account and started spending his money before the bank found out and had it stopped. They said it was a computer hacker.

Bank accounts (checking, savings, money market, etc) have FDIC insurance
Brokerage accounts have SIPC insurance.

Check with your bank for insurance risks of your accounts.
