i know you considered it . but markets have no memory . ge was at that price back then not because it was over sold . it was there because it deserved to be . just because something falls a lot does not ever mean it is a value when it comes to individual stocks
I bought a couple thousand shares of GE back in '09 when it was on its way up after the Recession and crossed the $8/share line. Held them for a few years and sold them when GE stalled at ~$25/share.
Even with that history I have ZERO interest in buying shares now.

But but what about the legendary forum advice repeated over and over to “be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful”. Lolol.
JCP was at $80 a share in 2007...I could have followed that advice to buy in at 50...or 30....but instead I would have ridden it down to less than 3 dollars a share as it sits today.
GE was at 30....someone could have swooped in at 15....only to realize there’s still further to fall. They might even ride the stock down to bankruptcy.
i don't subscribe to those theories when it comes to individual stocks , only markets . i am not smart enough to know what is going on financially in a company nor do i care to track what their competitors have on their drawing board so i can determine value . .
GE's problems are structural. It's not like they have had a scandal, or had a temporary setback in earnings. They have a couple good bunsinesses but that is about it. I don't know enough about their business except their jet engines which is profitable. If they jettison all their unprofitable businesses what would their EPS look like?
we were a ge switchboard , control , panels and lamp distributor . ge lagged in every way . we pretty much dropped them for philips lamps and siemens on everything else
