Coinbase doesn't deal with Bitcoin Cash currently. A while back Bitcoin Cash did a "fork" it split from Bitcoin.

Initially Coinbase said they don't support it, if you want to collect it get your coins off of Coinbase and into your own wallet where you control the keys. People didn't listen and then whined that Coinbase "stole" their money even though they had weeks of warning so Coinbase caved and said they will give it out in January. Whether they will support it or just release it is yet to be determined.

Just an FYI, make your own decision but there are a ton of Coinbase users with "free" Bitcoin cash, many of whom are going to dump it and either take the cash or buy Bitcoin and Litecoin. I would tread very carefully buying something that's going to flood the market in a few weeks from people who acquired it for free.

If you want to buy Bitcoin Cash send your Bitcoin to Bittrex, Poloniex, Kracken, HitBTC, etc.

Will Coinbase actually support Bitcoin Cash and add wallets or just release it and make people move it off the exchange?

In regards to OP just my opinioin but I think he'd be better off waiting to buy it, the market is going to be flooded with "free Bitcoin Cash" that IMHO people are going to dump and take profits or put into Litecoin or Bitcoin

I'd be really curious to see what happens to Bitcoin Cash after Coinbase passes out the coins. If they add it I could see it being huge as it brings it easily to new buyers like OP who may want to start out on Coinbase before moving to altcoin exchanges.

On the slip side I could also see everyone dumping Bitcoin Cash for free money or to throw into Eth, LTC or BTC and could see the price sliding.

I'm very interested to see which way it goes
