I am not sure. I was sure that if I kept averaging down my purchases, eventually I could get back above break even. As for long term - 5 or 10 years -- they look ok to me but there have to be better investments out there. T isn't GM, Kodak, etc, and they aren't going out of business but their management has made some dumb moves. I guess a lot of things hinge on how well they do with this 5G that is on the way.

I keep selling calls against my T position and the strategy has worked quite well. Currently short 4/18 30s meaning it will be called for the dividend on 4/9 if above 30 and, if not, the divi is mine.

Lawsuit against AT&T merger....dismissed. Check that one off the list of items keeping the stock down. Believe we are back over $30 for good, unless overall market tanks. For those of you who bought under $30, kudo's. For those who have the stock and have hung on for the dividend, also kudo's. We will have the last laugh.

lets track it against a total market fund and then see if it was worth the risk of being dependent on the whims of one company.

as of 2/27 ytd is 11.18 for at&t including dividends , so far vti is up 12.60 .. we wont even count the awful past for at&t giving it the benefit of the doubt

Fair enough. I will say this: I wish I had VZ and T over past year rather than just T

Laughing at another person's misfortune? You're better than that.

not laughing ...more like this is an example of why there is no such thing as "safe stocks """ you used to hear about at&t being the stock widows and orphans should buy and how it is LESS VOLATILE then the market .... ...well those days are long gone .... i would only use at&t for a quick speculation if i ever bought it ..

I have a good sense of humor. Can take some good natured ribbing on this one. Every time it gets near a break even for me -- it tanks.
