It's really hard if not impossible to predict which stocks will do well in the future. I scan about 100 - 200 stocks to pick just a few when I trade. Even with that much screening, I only average about 60% winners / 40% losers. A profitable trading, excuse me, "investing" strategy is far more important than which stocks to buy.

Look for companies that will benefit from this economy. They are out there. But wait a bit. I think the market is going to go down, again.

Yes.
If you feel like you MUST buy, buy CASH.
Exxon and its 39 Billion in cash and equivalents comes to mind, although, I want it lower than it was today.

If you believe we're in a bear market, with the trend still down, then you'll want a defensive portfolio, heavy in cash and laddered CDs. If you want to layer in equities, oil, gold and dividend-rich consumer durables are hedges in tough times. Some health care and infrastructure stocks are looking attractive, too. I'd stay away from financials and tech. JMO.

Don't invest in stocks in present scenario. Its really unpredictable.
I would suggest if you want optimum use of your money, then buy property.

What do you folks think about Money Market Funds?
What about a Treasury Money Market Trust --- a money market backed by treasury bills -- or a CD?
