Default Investing - can I just do this sure thing?

I want to take advantage of the stock market as I've always heard buy when it's down.

But then something hit me the other day while reading a prospectus from an energy company.....

a million dollar payout with monthly payments of a hundred or two for up to twenty years or so.

It crossed my mind to get life insurance on my daughter's birth father. Looking at this from a business perspective (take emotion out of it)...he is overweight and I heard he was starting to decline. I know if he passes away during the first 2 years that I don't get the benefit, just what I put in....but is this a good idea for investment? And can I do it since I've had full custody of our daughter since birth AND we do rely on his income for support?

(he's much older than me and while I understand I could be 60 or 70 when he does pass away.... at least that will take care of my health issues if I need long term care)

You are confusing insurance with an investment. That's never a good idea. If you see this as insurance, compare it against other forms of insurance and see if it's the best deal to cover what you want covered. If you see it as an investment, determine what is the rate of return.

CTbroker19 is on a distinguished road
The suicide clause is what is 2 years. Everything else is payable upon the receipt of the first premium. We had a guy who had his policy for 3 weeks and kicked... and his wife got his full payout.

You have no control over your insured however. You do have control over an indexed/ fixed indexed account. Buy into an IRA in which you can add premium for a few years into the contract. Tax-deffered growth.
