I have used Fidelity for both 401K and personal investing for over 15 years.
No problems with them.

Been with Fidelity since the days of Peter Lynch and the Magellan fund bandwagon. No complaints but at any time they have their share of great funds and their share of dogs. Newsletters help!

Only one bad experience with them was when I transferred some funds out, closed an IRA account and opened an IRA at T Rowe Price. They charged me with an account closing fee, which I thought was very petty, since I have been investing with them since 1994.

Watch out for their sneaky fees! In fairness, other mutual fund companies (Ameriprise for sure) do the same BS.

I've used them for private accts and my workplace used them for a number of years. I've had 3 advisors over the years-one quite good, one 26 and useless, and the current one who's fair. Be aware that they will try to recommend their funds even when another would be a better fit. They actually recommended I sell every holding and go with their management, which only used their funds. Would not have been in my best interest at all, considering taxes.

As someone else said, some of their funds are v good, some not so good.

The things I like: very responsive and helpful phone staff and pretty good website for research, though I use another one more. I don't do day trading and find their site works fine for me.

I have a few brokerage accounts and 2 529 accounts with them. I've never had any problems. They have been very helpful. I've had Ameritrade, Merrill Lynch and Share builders and didn't care for their advice or customer service. I've stayed with Fidelity.
