For stock market investing forums I have started recommending: http://BigGreenPie.com

They also discuss real estate and business ventures. It's a newer site, but there isn't any crap or spam on it... it seems like they are all real people who have good advice so that works for me.

There's one guy on BigGreenPie.com who writes often and he posted a screenshot of his portfolio and he made like 50% on a few stocks in the past couple months. So who knows if THAT is real or not, but I don't see why he'd lie about it.

Go to CoolTrade if you want to set up fully robotic stock traders without needing to be a programmer.

Not a forum or website but the best kept learning (on the technical side) tool is the TOS (Think or Swim) paper money platform. Even with the paper money version one has access to most of the features of the suite.

I like bogleheads.org. There are some very bright posters over there, many with whom I share similiar investment philosophies.

I gave up on most forums and websites. I use to look at cbs marketwatch, actually subscribed to thestreet.com, lol for a little while.

The best "research" IMO is to look at the Forbes 400 list (comes out every year). Go through all the investors or money managers. I think I totaled almost 120 this year. Nearly 30% of the entire list in finance! Then you can go through philosophy, background. There's a lot of smart guys you don't hear about everyday. Howard Marks is really smart, kind of a philosopher king. He has memos on his website going back to the early 90's. Great insights and how to think about investing.

I also like the milken institute videos on youtube. Lots of good macro topics.

I always listen to Jim Rogers videos on youtube. The best 5-7 minute economic explanation out there.

Some seem like contrary indicators, the yahoo message boards, lol.

There is a forum that's been around for several years, not super busy but that is what is cool about it, small group of hard-core users with some pretty good contributors. Would recommend a visit - onlinetradersforum.com

The Crawling Road

I use their portfolio strategy (although it's a bit controversial due to its allocation of gold).. but their articles about how to invest when you don't know the future economic environment are very valuable.

Here are some popular portfolio asset allocations:

http://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Lazy_portfolios

(The one at Crawling Road is the "Permanent Portfolio")

I highly recommend you start with one of the "Lazy Portfolios" before you try anything more advanced (i.e. buying individual stocks, swing/day trading, etc.)
