I have two CD's with Ally Bank. I love this bank. I can get a live customer service rep within minutes compared to B of A or Chase where you have to press 1,2,3, 4. Then you press another series of 1,2,3,4 and then you have to wait five minutes.

Although this is somewhat of a straw man argument, since you could expect better customer service from organized crime than you could from B of A or Chase.

I would consider the Vanguard Bond ETF BND. It's yield is 4.47% with no hassles, leftover baggage or potential concerns.

I recently took out a CD with GMAC just before they changed to Ally.com. The process was easy and prompt. I am not aware of any reason to be concerned, they are FDIC insured. I have been searching the internet for any reason to be concerned but so far have found nothing. My biggest concern is that I like having a building I can walk into and ask for my money back, I'm a little uncomfortable doing business long distance.
