Schools in Clear Lake Iowa
We are moving to Clear Lake,Iowa and I read some very positive info about the town. I was wondering if I could get some info about elementary schools and middle schools public vs private etc. also info about childcare. We have 11, 9 and 2 year old kids.

I lived in CL for 2 years and visited my mom every other weekend for 10 years there as a child, but did not attend school there. What I can say is that the public schools in Iowa as a whole are EXCELLENT. We set the standard for education, as far as I am concerned (ala Iowa Tests of Basic Schools administered to millions of students country-wide every year). You will fall in love with Clear Lake the first week you move there. The people are amazing, the town is SO clean and quaint, and it has a great reputation for being a 'diamond in the rough' kinda town. It is a great place to live year-round, too. There is a winter carnival/parade in December, a kite festival in February, etc. and don't get me started on summer stuff. You will be making the best decision of your life, moving your 3 kid family to Clear Lake.

As far as public vs private schools...I am personally against mixing religion with education, blah blah blah, BUT I can tell you that the only private school I can think of in the area is Newman Catholic in Mason City, about 8 miles from Clear Lake...but that might be only high school. I don't know if there is a private school right in CL.

???? Huh? I can understand not mixing STATE sponsored public schools and religion, but what the heck does your statement have to do with anything (unless that is what you meant) regarding the question that was asked?

Yep I agree with Kvov lol!
I loved clear lake. Seems like the small town I grew up in. Your family should love it too. Maybe we will even see you there. We go every year there-Usually stay in the Gables or in a house along the lake. anyway!
I believe the schools in Iowa are great. It depends on the teachers and class sizes. I believe a parent should always be involved. Be a classroom parent or volunteer to read with second graders. That way you see what your children are doing and learning and how well the classroom set up is benefiting your children. I learned so much by doing this. I learned that not all teachers are the same and it really pays off to be involved. Good luck with your move!

I know this is about 2 years too late, but I should explain myself. Very simply put, learning what 2+2 is, and simutaneously learning "oh, btw, Jesus died for your sins" is creepy to me. Religion does not equal school. They should not be mixed. That is my opinion.
P.S. I also believe that someone should have the right to send their kid(s) to a religiously affiliated school if they want to, even though I disagree with it. 'Cuz when it comes down to it, what do I know? I'm just some guy.
