Hi Angie,

Welcome to Iowa! I don't live in or near Oskaloosa, but meeting new people is pretty much the same anywhere. Get involved in the community. If you attend church or synagogue, right there is an excellent way to meet people. Look in the Sunday paper for various social organizations, such as historical societies or photography clubs or running clubs, and so forth. If you like art, visit the nearest art museum and volunteer your services, and you'll meet lots of like-minded people. Reading the local paper to see what's going on and then volunteering is a guaranteed way to meet all kinds of people.

Oskaloosa is quite small, so I don't know if they'll have an organization like this, but many cities will have clubs called "Welcome Wagon" or literally "Newcomers." Barring that, seek out social or religious clubs, like I mentioned above, and you should meet lots of people.

All the best.
