Lightbulb Moving from Texas to Iowa

My ex-husband works in Storm Lake. We have 2 children. We have been talking about me moving over there to start fresh. Which city would you recommend to live in but not so far from Storm Lake because of his commute? Most affordable homes? Good job market? I am clueless!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!

I live in Clinton, Iowa and like it. I have no idea what the difference is between a Texan and Iowa as stated. ?? We're nice folks and welcome all.
Please let me know where you decide.

Did Iowa beat a good Texas team in the recent past or something?

The economy in that portion of the state is not particularily strong. Because of this, you'll find affordable homes anywhere around and including Storm Lake. I would reccomend livng in Storm Lake or Spencer (about 30 miles north of Storm Lake). Spencer probably has a better, more diverse job market and is a cleaner town overall...

Also, Storm Lake has a very large hispanic community. Very large. I only say this matter of factly, I'm not trying to pass judgement good or bad on the fact...

Iowa has a history of football recruiting from texas high schools. Our old coach, Hayden Fry, was from Texas.

As a transplant from Austin, Texas... I feel like an alien here in Iowa. And... I'm so bored I often think of beating myself in the head with a hammer.

One plus is that I have a whole lot more time to read.
