Default Young person in Dubuque

Would you recommend dubuque for a young single person in their 20s?

I'm looking at a job there and am wondering what it's like for someone like me. They are hiring so much I'd think there would be a big pool of young single people in town.

What do people do on weekends and in their spare time?

Absolutely. Take the job. I am in my 20s and live in Dubuque. The city has (3) 4-year colleges, so there's always an active group of young, single, students in town.

Besides the usual things (movies, bowling, restaurants, mall, etc...) there is a lot to do. Mostly the younger crowd likes to hit the bars/nightclubs in the city, or in East Dubuque "Sin City." However, there is also a variety of concerts, festivals, sports events (with the colleges), and so on... Whatever you're into, golfing, hiking/biking, boating, skiing, shopping, gambling, racing... you'll probably find it here or very close.

We recently had the Dubuque Co. Fair (Hinder, Papa Roach, Buckcherry played), the Taste of Dubuque, and there's always summer concerts downtown (Dubuquefest, Riverfest, Dubuque & All That Jazz).

A good site to visit to see what's happening locally is Dubuque365.com

Besides having Iowa's fastest-growing economy, the city was also recently named as being among the 15 Best Small Places for Business & Careers by Forbes Magazine, enjoys the shortest commute time in the nation, was named as one of MSN's "10 low-cost locales where jobs are plentiful," and has the lowest tax rate among large cities in Iowa.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions.
