Just wondering how your city cops treat you? In Creston the Chief and one officer raped a Bar Maid at the Country Club after closing hours, (jail time for both) In Nevada an officer Shot an unarmed man dead, (DCI considered it justified) In Ft dodge one resigned after being accused of Rape. These are all fairly recent. Does your city have a local bully in uniform?

The rape in Creston happened over 3 years ago. The shooting in Nevada does appear to be justified according to the transcripts; it could have been avoided if the officer had been equipped with a tazer, but it's hardly his fault that he wasn't. He had to defend himself from a crazy dude coming after him and he used what he had. As for Galen Hindt in Ft. Dodge, he's had numerous complaints filed against him over the years. Given his reputation it's very possible that he raped a woman.

So you have two convictions (for the same incident) and one allegation of police brutality out of several hundred law enforcement agencies in the state, spanning a period of three years. One incident is one too many, but it hardly seems like a case of cops gone wild in Iowa.

But to answer the question, I think law enforcement officers in our area are way too passive. If we had a couple of jerks on the force there would be a lot less people driving drunk and speeding through town.

From my experiences Des monies cops are grade A dicks, and fair field police act like you just killed someone if your not wearing your seat belt to the store to grab a gallon of milk. I think overall the police in Iowa are doing a fair job.

O I forgot about oskaloosa, their cops are super dicks also.
I remember one time they pulled us over for a tail light out, then said they smelled weed smoke so they searched are car for the hell of it. we had not been smoking and they never found any thing but a knife I had in my trunk, and the A hole confiscated it. Which I never understood because it isn't illegal to own a knife, let alone have it in the trunk of your car.

IMO, it is a tough, thankless job that everyone seems to think they know how they would handle it better.

I have zero problems with the police in DM...but then again, I'm not doing anything that brings attention to myself that would cause me to have to have any run-ins with the local force. Hey...maybe that is the key!!!
