Ask your lawyer. If you don't have one, get one now.

He would be in ok shape except for the failure to appear. The failure to appear is what may make bail much higher.

Don't get a lawyer like the others posted. These aren't big enough charges to justify a lawyer.
Bail him out, and make sure he makes it to the court date. He will get booked, but won't do any jail time probably (depends on his criminal history). He will probably just pay a bunch of fines and get probation. Bad Boy.
Before I joined the military and cleaned up, I was arrested for minor in possesion of alcohol. I had a warrant at the time for a failure to appear in court (for a traffic issue). They took me to jail, and the next morning the judge booked me. I only had to pay a fine for the alcohol, but they let me off on the court date thing. I promised to show to my new date, and all was done.
Hopefully he doesn't have much of a record, otherwise he may get more.

it's a misdemeanor traffic violation....just liek most other traffic violations it comes with a fine....however in some states the ticketing officer has a choice to book you into jail or not.

The traffic violation isn't the biggest problem. The failure to appear is the problem.

I got a failure to appear once and all they did was send me to jail overnight. The next morning the judge gave me a new court date and made me pay a fine.
I guess it all depends on your record, and what the failure to appear was for. My court date was traffic related. The OP's might be for shooting someone. You never know.
