Default sightseerers........

I'm sure I've read that the famous American Gothic painting was a farmhouse in Iowa. You know, the one with the older man standing there with his sister, the farmhouse in the background. Where is this located? Is it a tourist destination? Do they allow people inside the house or do people just drive by and have their picture taken in front of the house? Just curious if it is out of the way and whether people really make an effort to visit it.

I think the house is still around. I want to say the town is Eldon or Elton. I heard it was redone back to the 1930 era. If I recall someone lives in the house; like a caretaker and it is not open the public. But I would try to Google "American Gothic House".
