I lived in Coulter with a friend for about 10 days. It was so small that I HAD to get out! Can't even call it a town with 200 people! There are no big towns close and no real work.

Manchester really is in the middle of nowhere. I think Dyersville, only 15 miles down the road and a little smaller prob has more to offer and is close to Dubuque (55,000 people) too!

VERY small towns. There cant be more than 200 people in each town. I agree they are in a pretty good central location though.

I've found it. Fernald, Iowa.

It's a great little burg.

Ask some of the nearby residents over on HeyIowa.com. Many of them live just a few miles from Fernald.

Funny you should mention that. I moved to this small town in Iowa in which I still live and was told "the water over there is bad, everyone gets cancer." Low and behold a few years later I am diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Coincidence you think? Who knows. It did creep me out a bit however.

Small towns with shopping not too far. Best of both worlds. The above towns are the ones I am familiar with.
