I am moving rather quickly to the West Des Moines area, with a job transfer. My husband and I would love to find a house with some land 'out in the country' to rent (or perhaps buy) that would allow for us to raise some sheep. Due to working in West Des Moines, we need to find something within a 60-75 mile radious of that city.
Anyone have any hints or ideas? |

60-75 miles would but you on the outskirts of any cardinal direction of the metro area. If I were you, I would look around the Indianola area in Warren County. It's really not all that far from WDM due to Highway 5 and I'm sure land out there would be cheaper than land out west. I don't know if much is available to rent there, especially to raise sheep. |

El Rhino -
Thanks for the information. We're eager to purchase some property, and may end up renting an apartment short-term until we can find a suitable place. All I know so far, is that I'll need to find property zoned A1. I'll check out Warren county. |
