The City of Mediapolis is ramming through a swimming pool project that defies the imagination. A town of 1500 people, mainly retired and elderly, building a $4,700,000.00 swimming pool for not quite ninety days use each year defies reason. The city can not afford any but the most basic police force, contracted by the county, has streets that have needed repair for many years and has spent hundred of thousands of dollars on fixing up the main street of the town. Its taxes are quite high and this fiasco will only add to that load. I guess that is what happens when people spend the public treasury.

Perhaps the reason your town is mainly elderly and retired persons is because your town has not made ammenities important to younger families a priority. This sounds like a great start to getting those working families, who pay more in taxes than do the elderly, to consider your town.
I don't know your tax rate, but I would be surprised if it truly is "high". Enlighten us if I am wrong. |
