Default Des Moines area hotel

We will be driving through your lovely state in a couple weeks. Was wondering if anyone can personally recommend an affordable (preferably not more then $100/night) CLEAN hotel!?? I've stayed at a few in my own state that leave me nervous about staying in any anywhere!

Thank you kindly

I'll say that I've gotten very nice hotel rooms in Des Moines for around $45 through name your own price places (priceline, orbitz, expedia, etc). I'd try something like that. Pretty much anything downtown (except the crackhead extended stay hotels, but they're not on these sites) or in the suburbs will be nice.

Like most places, I think anything you find just randomly alongside the road or in smaller cities might be kind of dodgy. I'd definitely try to hit up Des Moines, Iowa City, Quad Cities or the Omaha/Counciltucky area. I assume you'll be on I-80? If you'll be on I-35, Des Moines or Ames is your best bet.

The linked page is a Google Maps listing of hotels at the intersection of I-35 and I-80 in West Des Moines, Iowa. You can click on each one to check for rates, etc. Hope this helps.

OK, the link thing is not working. Go to Google Maps and enter

Hotels West Des Moines, Iowa

and you'll get the list. Also shows location.
