I used to live in Blakesburg, which is just south of Eddyville and part of the same school system. I don't have any school-age kids, but from what I gather the school system is very good.

Houses are cheap in that area. You can find a serivceable house in need of remodeling for under $50K. Very nice houses can be had under $100K.

If you want to rent in Eddyville, you're more likely to finda house or trailer than an apartment. If you prefer an apartment, you may have to look in Ottumwa, Albia, or Oskaloosa. All three have lots of apartments to choose from.

As someone whose family is from there I can say Eddyville is a very quiet and boring town but there are towns around to go to. Malls are small and very few stores. If slow paced small town living is for you this is it. Jobs are not very available though. Housing is extremely cheap though but a lot of old houses needing work and old mobile homes on lots to be had. Not many houses come up for sale in Eddyville itself but Oskaloosa has many at all times.

I am looking for a house for sale on contract in Eddyville. If anyone knows of a site or any other way to find the listings, information would be greatly appreciated.

There's also a local shopper you can browse online, thedandydollar.com. The Multiple Listing Service for the area is rathbunmls.com; also, realtor.com shows some listings for Eddyville.
Hope this helps!
