Info on Sioux City please
I am currently active in the job market, specifically as an anesthesiologist. Recently, I was approached by a 'head hunter' regarding an opportunity in Sioux City, IA. The job opp sounds enticing, but far more important to me are community considerations as my family is the center of my world & the last thing I want is to move to a place not conducive to their benefit.
So, if any of you would be so kind, I would sincerely appreciate any inside poop you can provide on life in & around Sioux City, IA. Thank you in advance for your time & efforts!
Dave

Sioux City Info
Hi I was born and raised in Sioux City. The city is fine, it is a very safe place to raise children. They have summer concerts in the park (free) movies by the river( free) They have a HUGE auditorium which pulls alot of BIG names through. However the schools in the city are not to my high expectations. I would look into living in the Lawton- Bronson school district. About a 10 minute drive to Sioux City. They have built a brand new High School and are going to build an Elementary School in the next few years. 4H is a big thing in Woodbury County ALOT of my most fond memories are at the Woodbury County Fair.If you dont mind a 20+ minute drive down the highway to get to Sioux City, Elk Point,SD is a WONDERFUL TOWN!!!!!!! The town is small and friendly as well as their school is second to none!!! Elk Point has put in dedicated black topped bike and running trails all through out town. Two large parks, baseball fields picnic area ect. Also the city "kid pool" is free (has fountains, small water slide and is about 2 feet deep, perfect for small children. They do have a large "grown up pool " that you can buy a family season pass and go as much as you want. The town really promotes physical fitness. I loved living there with the exception of the weather, I do not care for winter weather so it was not a place that I was going to be happy as it is winter end of Oct - begining of April. with not much of a break from winter in between. So if you can handle the COLD winter and the HOT summer....Go for it! Good Luck
Let me know if any more ?'s

If you are from a metropolitan area now you will NOT like Sioux City. Very dumpy. We grew up there. All of their new stores are closing. The people there dont like change!

I've never lived in Sioux City, but am very familiar with the city. I live in Sioux Falls, about 75 miles north of Sioux City. I agree with the previous post... I always got the impression of a run-down city... I regularly check the TV stations web sites in Sioux City, and I see a lot of crime and drug activity. I know the areas around the city are better...like North Sioux City SD, South Sioux City NE, and Dakota Dunes SD. Sioux Falls SD has a booming health care sector, especially with the Sanford Health Care System...It might be something to check out...
