Love Ankeny! Moved there this past fall and only one complaint:
Very snotty, better-than-thou rich people. if you are a commoner and are in their way, LOOKOUT!
Aside from that, very nice, clean, town with everything you need within 20 minute drive.

hummm...that is strange. I don't ever get that feeling about people that live in Ankeny.
I guess your could just remind them they live in Ankeny and that in itself is nothing to be snotty about. I mean...let's be honest. There is nothing high brow about that place. It is what it is.

Of course, it cannot compare to the so ridiculously high-end West Narnia.

I have to say that you could do much better then ankeny. I grew up in ankeny, and within ten years the town has changed so much. You can't go into a a store without feeling you aren't good enough because you don't live in ankeny. People say the schools are good...but i know for a fact they really aren't. Championships in sports does not equal quality schools. The majority of teachers don't care, and are just plain rude. When my younger brother was in school there, they tried placing him in special ed just because he had glasses....all because the teacher didn't want to move him to a front row seat. The she pulled her pants down and showed her whole world to my mom, in front of the principal, and the principal did nothing about it. Now doesn't that sounds like quality schools?
The town in general is okay, but there are a lot of housing developments going up, and the building quality isn't what it use to be. Ankeny would be okay for families, but for anyone else you could do much better.

I'm just picturing a teaching saying "Go down the hall, four eyes!"
So this teacher pulled down her pants? Huh? Can you explain this a little better, please?

I don't live in Ankeny but I do ship there on the way home. The town has grown alot in time that I have lived in the area and now has a glut of condos and townhomes. A major builder in town (Regency) has just laid off all their staff and I think they have 2000 liens filed against them for not paying their contractors. You can read more about it at the Des Moines Register website.
You know, now that it's been pointed out, there doesn't seem to be alot of mature trees in town. But then again, I mostly just drive on Oralabor and Delaware.
