I grew up in Ankeny, albeit that was back in the 80's, but I still go see my relatives that live in the area every year, and I feel that it is still a very nice place to be/live. The schools were great when I attended them; too long ago now to be relevant, though... Anyhow, like others have said, it is very family-oriented and growing like crazy. I'll bet you'll be just fine moving there (OP).

wow - can't imagine this place in the 80's. Probably a lot more wide open & windy.

Default it good, watch out for

ankeny has been a great city for me. although as a home owner i have a rental property just ot hte west of me. they dont like to keep it up and their trash is always torn up by their stray cat they broght alon. thatis the only thing you need to wathc out for is if your neighbors rent or own. home owners in this town take great pride in their investment and it shows. come on into town. plenty of shopping, really dont need to go to des moines any longer. we now hasve a best buy as well. great city. best athletics for schools around as well as acedemics.
